A new youth leadership program is being formed at Horizon Elementary. LEAP Academy, which stands for Leaders Emerging with Amazing Potential, will debut this summer.
“We are excited to announce the creation of LEAP Academy (leap-academy.org), a new program at Horizon Elementary School that will strive to improve the lives of our students and make Madison an even better place to live for all of us,” said John Shriver, a fundraiser for LEAP.
For a number of years Horizon has been promoting leadership skills for its students. With generous support provided by Reach Orthodontics in Madison, it can now enhance those efforts by targeting students who LEAP organizers feel will most benefit from a special focus on using leadership to boost self-esteem and to effectively work to make a positive and productive environment in their community.

The LEAP Academy logo is a runner sailing over the crest of a hurdle with drive, ambition, form, grace and elegance, all of which result from years of training, coaching, and mentoring. The curriculum of LEAP Academy is designed to help students believe and act on a set of guiding principles that can motivate them to address the challenges they face and achieve a rewarding life.
LEAP Academy is a long-term commitment to its students to help them build a foundation of supporting relationships and give them the best chance for developing a strong belief in themselves, their school, and their community.
The LEAP Academy is proud to become a partner with Reach Orthodontics and reach out to those who are underserved in our community. More information on Reach Orthodontics can be found on Facebook (www.facebook.com/reachortho/) and on their website (www.reachortho.com). Principal Rodney Richardson, Assistant Principal Tammy Jones and School Counselor Jennifer Walker are working with LEAP representatives and partners to finalize the program and speakers.
